On the Solution of Region-Based Straight-Line Mechanism Design Optimization

A universal design method for synthesis problems of mechanisms that realize the approximate straight-line trajectory is presented in this paper. First, given expected straight line and prescribed fixed pivots, a general mathematics model with angles as parameters to determine initial position two side links established, through which all infinite possible are obtained. Then, kinematic constraints imposed, including type, transmission angle, size, straightness, defect. All feasible solution meet calculated can be expressed regions. It intuitive comprehensive designers observe distribution pattern solution. In end, an optimal high-precision mechanism selected regions by setting optimization aim. The second-order osculating provide more solutions designers, but use third-order when higher straightness requirement imposed. This addresses problem kind guidance choosing from number solutions.
